Teaching with BoB National

BoB National (Box of Broadcasts) is an off-air recording service for television and radio designed to be used for teaching and learning. Staff and students can watch over 65 channels, plus 10 foreign language channels.

Personal playlists can be created and shared, and clips of programmes can be generated. Full programmes can be linked to from course blogs. This is a useful way of providing off-campus access to film and media content.

Teaching resources, case studies and curated playlists by subject area from BoB can be found here.

Finding Books & eBooks

To find a book in the library, first search the Library Catalogue. This will give you an idea about the range of books on a topic, as well as information about where you can find a book on the shelf.

To request new books for purchase, complete the Staff Purchase Suggestion Form.

Some books are only available as eBooks, so always search the Library Search Plus in addition to checking the shelves. eBooks often offer multi-user access, let you search through the whole book for keywords, copy key quotes, and highlight or add notes as you read, so they're useful tools to support teaching.

eBooks are also available through databases, which you can search separately:

Your Subject Librarian

Each course has a designated Subject Librarian who provides support for your department and courses in the Library. They can provide information literacy and referencing training for your students, assist with reading list provision, digitise course readings so your students can access them online, advise on copyright for teaching and research, and purchase books and resources for the Library.
