We won't be able to provide some services for the moment. We will review this regularly and make changes if and when we can. The following services aren't available at the moment:
Study spaces including the silent reading room and meeting room. At the moment we can't offer study spaces in the Library. We will aim to reintroduce study spaces when we can.
Browsing the Library bookshelves. We cannot currently permit access to the shelves for browsing. We will collect books for you from the shelves and make them available via the click and collect service.
You can browse our online selections:
- Online book displays - the current one focuses on anti-racism resources, click here to have a look
- On your subject guides.
- On the Library catalogue. Click on a book that you find interesting, look for the shelf number and click on the browse the shelf link. This works best for books.
Provide access to the Materials Collection or Artist's book collections. We cannot currently offer access to these two special collections for browsing or handling.
The PCs on the computer benching. The Laptops will be available for loan and we have added an extra 12 Laptops to this service but you won't be able to sit down at a PC in the Library.
Cash payments. In line with the University, we will not be taking cash in the Library. You will be able to pay fines with a card and shortly you will also be able to pay online via your reader account on the Library website.
The little things. We won't be able to lend you the little things like pens, glue, rulers and headphones. We have also had to take away the cutting mats, staplers and paper clips.
Tours or group visits. We won't be able to have groups of students or visitors doing activities in the Library. Unfortunately the need for social distancing means that we can't have groups of students in the Library.
